An Honest Wealthy Affiliate Review – The Truth Will Surprise You

Before I start this honest Wealthy Affiliate review I want to get something out of the way: making money online takes time and effort, so if you are looking a way to make a quick buck online, don’t count on it…there are plenty of scam artists out there waiting to take your money.

I also need to tell you this: making money online can be tricky at times. There isn’t a “magic formula” for success, and I’m going to tell you straight up that internet marketing isn’t for everyone.

However, if you are someone that is willing to work hard, who thinks outside of the box, who is willing to test out different internet marketing tactics and techniques, you can earn money online.

How do I know this? Because I’ve done it…

I got started at internet marketing back in 2005 when a friend gave me a printout of a book he read about how to earn money using Google Adwords. Well, unfortunately, I failed miserably, and I gave up, twice. However, for some reason or other, something inside of me told me to press on, but the problem was that I kept looking for a “miracle” solution that would help me crack the code, so to speak

An Honest Wealthy Affiliate Review – My Personal Experience

Well, about six months after my initial failures, while researching this “miracle” product that I thought could “fix” everything and make me bundle of cash, I stumbled upon someone’s website where a product called Wealthy Affiliate was highly recommended. Back then, believe it or not, Wealthy Affiliate was mainly just a Keyword Service, and in order to have success in Google Adwords, finding the right keywords was a big deal.  After thinking about it a little while, I thought why not give Wealthy Affiliate a try?  Kyle and Carson seemed like legitimate guys who could help me out…so I decided to join Wealthy Affiliate.  This was in December of 2005.

About two months after I joined Wealthy Affiliate, with Carson’s help and with the guidance of other Wealthy Affiliate members, I FINALLY made my first sales! I actually could make money online! Before I go any further, I want you to take a look at the screen shot below of the “General Success” section of the Wealthy Affiliate forum. This used to be where people shared their online money making success they were having with others:

You probably noticed the dates on the screenshot. The screenshot is a little dated, as it was taken back in 2008. The Wealthy Affiliate forum no longer exists, but back then, it was the best thing since sliced bread, because the information contained within it was amazing.

The reason I’m including it here is to show you that back in the day when I started out, real people at Wealthy Affiliate did in fact make money. Like me, they were very excited about getting their first sales online. As you continue reading my honest review of Wealthy Affiliate, I’m going to show you where Wealthy Affiliate is now.

Between the time I made that first sale online in 2005, and December of 2008, I earned about $30,000 online, $16,000 of which I earned in 2008 alone. But that’s where my success story ends.

If you have ever done internet marketing online, you probably have noticed that Google can be your best friend, or your worst enemy. Most of the income streams I had established eventually dried up, and in December of 2009, I got a full time job at Paypal, which is where most of my focus was for the next 3 and a half years. If you don’t take the time to properly maintain your websites, and keep up with the changes Google throws at you, there is a pretty good chance your websites will die. and mine did just that, partly because at some point, I neglected to update my credit card associated with my web hosting account, and once your web hosting dies, your websites die with it.

Fast forward to January of 2019…

Not too long ago I met this guy named Stuart. He was in town for a soccer tournament, and he wanted to buy a bike from me. He told me about this business he was involved with, and after initially telling him to kick rocks, I decided to give it a shot.

My first task was to create a website. Initially, I tried to build one with the website builder that came with my domain, but it was utterly confusing to use. MyWealthy Affiliate membership ended a few years ago, which was ok, because I hadn’t used it in years  Because I was really involved with this thing called work. Then I had a thought. Maybe I should rejoin Wealthy Affiliate, and I did just that.

With the Wealthy Affiliate website creation tool, I was quickly able to build a website on the WordPress platform to promote my new business, which took all of 30 seconds to create. I used to build similar websites using the Fantastico Deluxe feature of my Hostgator account, but I didn’t need to go that route since I can host up to 25 websites at Wealthy Affiliate for no additional charge.

So where am I at now?

A lot of the knowledge I had about internet marketing was about 10 years out of date, so I just figured I would start over from scratch. I’m learning internet marketing all over again, and its really fun.

After I got my new website up and running by adding some content to it, I started to watch the training videos at Wealthy Affiliate. Although some of the material was review, I also learned some new things.

For example, what was frustrating to me was that at first, I couldn’t seem to get my website indexed in Google for new posts I made after the initial page was made, but after making some tweaks to my website from things I learned in the training videos, pages that I could not get indexed at first where starting to show up in the Google search results. That was wicked cool!

One thing I noticed as I was watching the training videos is that in addition to promoting my new business, I started to get other ideas in my head, and for the first time in a long time, I got excited about internet marketing again. As of now, I have three different websites up and running for 3 different niches, and I have plans to add more soon.

One of the things that Wealthy Affiliate really fun are the training videos offered at Wealthy Affiliate. Kyle, the sites co-founder does a great job of walking you through everything. If you missed anything in the videos, there are also step by step printed instructions that show you how to do everything in the videos.

What’s cool is that you can join Wealthy Affiliate for free, go through some training, and then you can decide if Wealthy Affiliate is for you.

Wealthy Affiliate is a full fledged internet marketing university, where you will learn the ABC’s of internet marketing, from how to set up a website, to where to find products to promote, to how to optimize your websites to make them as profitable as possible, to doing the proper research to understand your customers, so that you can blow your competition out of the water.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my honest review of Wealthy Affiliate.   As of today, I’ve been back at Wealthy Affiliate for less than a month, but I’m thoroughly impressed with all of the new resources that are available – its amazing to see how much the platform has changed over the years.  The old platform was great, and I do miss the forum, but the new platform at WA is just awesome, and I’m excited for the future. In fact, I’ve got a goal to be able to quit my day job within one year. It will take a lot of hard work, and I still have to go through lots of new training modules, and as I do that, I will update this website.

For now, though, don’t take it from me. Join Wealthy Affiliate for free, and like I did back in 2006, start your way toward earning that first sale you make online!

  1. Hey Keith!
I really liked reading your story and how you used to be a member of Wealthy Affiliate years ago. Compared to when you were a member years ago, do you think Wealthy Affiliate has improved their courses in that time?
    Missy

    • Hi Missy! Thanks for taking the time to read my story. WA has changed a lot over the years. I still remember when Site Rubix came out. Truthfully, at first, it wasn’t very good, but Kyle and Carson kept on developing it, and today its really really good. Now, its kind of similar to the Fantastico Deluxe platform, but better!

But yeah, WA has come a long way. I remember when there were no training videos at WA. Back in the day, all of the training was in a read only format, and at one time, the only discussion was on Google Adwords.

I do miss the forum. but I imagine with the current live chat feature, its easier for Carson and Kyle to respond to questions.

Overall, I think WA has improved. I really like the training videos that Kyle does. At one point, it seems like there wasn’t a whole lot new I had to learn. Now, it seems like EVERYTHING is new. Kyle and Carson have done a great job of taking a good thing and making it great! Kind of like what Steve Jobs did with the Mac. Without Steve, it would just be a box that you typed commands into…with basic computer functionality. But Steve Jobs made it “insanely great”. And that’s how I view the changes of WA over the years.

      Thanks again for your comment!
